Workshops
Open to the public. No cost to residents of Chico and Paradise.
Local professionals involved in the home purchase process will cover topics such as lender requirements, the importance of the purchase agreement, the title & escrow process, the need for hazard insurance and the value of a home inspection. Financial management and budgeting information will also be included.
These workshops are sponsored by the City of Chico and the Town of Paradise.

Workshops are all on Saturdays, 9 am – 3 pm, with a 1/2 hour lunch break (bring lunch and snack).
Foreclosure Prevention Orientation "Express Service"
The housing and credit counselor will walk you through the paperwork application process if your goal is to modify your loan. Please bring your loan information to the workshop (original note you received when you bought the home or a current statement), be prepared to write a list of all your current monthly expenses (or bring list with you), provide the counselor your average gross income, and be prepared to write a hardship letter as to why you are behind in your mortgage. You will also be filling out our intake papers. The counselor will spend time to explain the process and answer general questions. You will not be sharing your personal information with other workshop attendees. This workshop will speed up the process in working with the lender. There is no cost to you for workshops or individual appointments.

Foreclosure Prevention Workshops
Are you behind in payments or will be soon due to unemployment, medical bills, or for other reasons? Do you want to receive tips on talking to your lender about the possibly of modifying your loan? Do you want to know your options to prevent foreclosure? This is the workshop for you right now.
Workshops are all on Tuesdays, 5:30 pm – 8 pm
Credit & Budget Workshops
This workshop will help you examine your attitudes about money, create a budget, organize your finances, learn ways to reduce spending, understand a credit report and your FICO score, dispute errors on your report, and improve your score.
